    WW2 Named Group of (6) Medals to Rau, South African Artillery, AA Batteries
    Group of Six, five are named:
    156622 J.L. RAU
    1939/45 Star; Africa Star (this medal is unamed); Italy Star; Defence; War and Africa Service Medals.
    EF Condition
    John William Rau attested in the 3rd A.A. Regt in the coastal artillery 5/8/41 giving his occupation as a "Printer's / Litho Feeder".  He was married and lived in Cape Town. He was apprehended twice for being illegally absent once in 1941 and also 1942 for which he served 14 days detention and 3 days civil detention. His conduct on discharge was noted as being of Very Good Character, Efficient and Sober.
