    WW2 Africa Star Medal Group of (4) to Merkle, all named SA style, "C" Prefix !
    C167098 C.H. MERCKLE
    (The "C" Prefix denotes he was a gentleman of colour under their apartheid system)
    1939/45 Star; Africa Star; War Medal, Africa Service Medal.
    With his 2 page service record which shows Charles Henry Merckle came from
    Schauder Township of Port Elizabeth (named after a Mayor who initiated a housing scheme for the underpriviledged), his occupation was "Boot Trade". Henry was discharged in 1941 due to chronic Bronchitis and Asthma, all medals are confirmed on his papers and are his full entitlement.
