This spring blooming wildflower is very shade, heat, and drought tolerant. White avens is most happy under trees and tall shrubs where its white flowers are a lovely spring attraction. For the remainder of the season the its soft green leaves compliment other shade-loving plants. When plants emerge in spring the leaves are held tight against the ground. Later leaves are held a little higher followed by flowers held high above the foliage. Use as a groundcover, border, or potted plant. Reseeds to form a groundcover under those dry, shady bare spots under your trees. But its dainty taproot means it is easy to control and never invasive.
