    Description

Two Tourist Guides for Trier, Germany from 1913 and 1918. Brochure 1 was published (in German) to celebrate the Centennial in honor of the Infantry Regiment from Trier which fought in the Napoleonic War in 1813. The city of Tirer was founded 400 BC by the celts, ruled by the Romans, so it has long been a center for commerce and culture. Both booklets show the city gates, Cathedrals, Monuments, The Basilica, Palaces, Museums, Library, Ruins, The Amphitheatre and Roman Bath. Also bridges across the Mosel River. The second book is in English and has much much history to read. Both Booklets are in good to very good condition with mild soiling, but with strong corners and edges, and mild wear. Please see all of the photos above to confirm the contents and condition of this publication.
Item 483688 ◊ Two Tourist Guides and Brochures for Trier Germany, from 1913 and 1918
Unique and interesting "Two Tourist Guides and Brochures for Trier,  Germany From 1913 and 1918."
The first brochure was published (in German) to celebrate the Centennial in honor of the Infantry Regiment from Trier which fought on the Rhine in the Napoleonic War in 1813.  This booklet measures 6-5/8" X 4-1/2".    On the cover is the ruins of the Kaiser-Palastes ... or the Ceasar's Palace.   The Romans ruled in this area for centuries.  In the first few pages we see information about a pavillion at the Bahnhof (the train station,) the main Market Square, The Black Gate (one of the entrances into the city during the Roman times,) and a bridge across the Mosel river. Of course there are many churches and cathedrals.  The Liebfraukirche (the church of our Lady) is most well known.  But another cathedral and houses the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial.
The city of Tirer was founded by the Celts in 400 BC, so it has been a center for commerce and culture for thousands of years.  The brochure closes out with a photo of the Ramstein castle ruins.
The second booklet, published in 1918, once again welcomed tourists to Trier after the end of the Great War.  It measures 6-1/2" x 4-1/2".   This booklet has advertisements from local businesses: a wine cellar, Deutsch Bank, a Jeweler, the Hotel Bahnhof, an optician and a photographic Studio, which are a nice look back in time.   On the cover is the Black Gate, and on the inside is a map of Trier in the middle ages.
This booklet is in English, so the historical section have more meaning to an English-speaking reader. Most of the photos and sight-seeing spot are similar to the first book.  Showing gates, Cathedrals, Monuments, The Basilica (Protestant church), Palaces, Museums, Library, Ruins, The Amphitheatre and the Roman Bath. Also the bridges across the Mosel River   There are tours listed in English to help tourists map out their stay.
Both of these two Travel Booklets are in good to very good condition.  The first booklet was folded in half vertically by an original owner.  But it has not affected the integrity of the booklet much.   Both booklets have minor soiling, but in general are very clean.   The pages are all clean.   The edges and corners are strong, with only minor wear.
Please see all of the photos above to confirm the contents and condition of this publication.
A very rare and wonderful, "Two Tourist Guides and Brochures for Trier,  Germany From 1913 and 1918" and a great addition to any collection!!
