Troop Ship " RMS QUEEN MARY" Victory Life Vest. A rare artifact of the grandest ocean liner still in existence.
An original World War II-era life vest taken from the most notable troop transport of the conflict, the ocean liner R.M.S. QUEEN MARY. The vest, approx. 44" x 14 ½" fully opened, is constructed of orange and navy blue canvas, with sewn flotation compartments filled with kapok, and a rope tie at the waist. The chest of the vest is stenciled "Queen Mary" in black, over a "heart" symbol, indicating the intended orientation of the vest on the wearer's body. The rear is stenciled "Victory", while the left shoulder is stamped "R.A.B. Liverpool", with a set of inventory numbers and the letter "P" within a circle.
