"Perfect" is the word to describe this vintage Spode Trade Winds red covered sugar. It was part of a display collection The sugar features "H.E.J.C. Thomas Coutts Brig Built 1820." The handles with crossed strands are unique. There is a leaf and flower raised design at each end of the handle strands finished with gilding. There is also gilding around the upper rim of the sugar and on the rim of the lid, as well as on the handles, and the wonderful berry finial. The marks on the bottom of the sugar include a pattern number W 128-A. This piece is marked "England" rather than "Made in England" which indicates it was made before 1923. The distance from tip of handle to tip of handle is 5 3/8 inches. The height is 4.75 inches to the top of the finial.
