Growing Salpiglossis from seed
Planting material is better to plant in late March or early April. Mix sod soil, sand and wood ash in a 2:1:0.5 ratio. The substrate should be stratified and fire in the
oven for an hour. At the bottom of the container, pour expanded clay, eggshells or pebbles, and then fill the container with the soil mixture. It is necessary to moisten
the soil abundantly with a sprayer. Spread the seeds evenly over the surface of the substrate. If you plan to grow salpyglossis in individual containers, put 2-3 seeds in
each pot. Do not deepen the planting material deeply, light pressure with your finger will be enough. Then, the seeds are sprayed from a sprayer with water and
covered with polyethylene film. Place the seedlings in a warm place and try to protect them from temperature fluctuations.
Transplanting to the open ground
In the open ground salpyglossis transplanted in May, when the threat of frost has passed and the soil is warm enough. Prepare and dig up the plot on the eve of
planting. The seedlings are transplanted into pre-prepared holes and watered with a small amount of water. In the open ground, the plant begins to flower in June.
