Rare Small Art Nouveau Ladies' Continental Silver Chatelaine with Mirror, Pocket Knife, Aide Memoire and Pencil
This is one of the most interesting and loveliest ladies' chatelaines I have ever seen. Probably made in Germany (has 800 crown and crescent hallmark on mirror and pencil), but aide memoir is in French "Chers Souvenirs" (Dear Memories), with enameled shamrock. The biggest charm on this chatelaine is the mirror - measuring 5 cm long. The mirror doesn't reflect anymore, but it can be changed (frame comes out ... for either mirror or small picture). There is a pocket knife - working and sharp, a pencil (the end comes out with pencil inside the cap), and, of course the little memo pad ... with 3 "pages". There is also a monogrammed charm with dedication on back. I don't know what it says - or the language. It is dated 11/x 08 (or 03), dating it to the early 20th c. Typical art nouveau floral design. In very good condition. Some dings on mirror handle and back and on knife casing. But all in all, great, working condition.Buyer will pay $ 18.00 for insured shipping and handling.
