: Though seeds do not require any pretreatment we suggest 30-60 days cold, moist stratification to hasten and unify germination.
Very drought tolerant tree in the sycamore genus, closely resembling our
native American sycamore (
Platanus occidentalis
) and becoming more common due to its disease resistance and greater drought tolerance.
Mexican sycamore has very similar large, maple-like leaves and handsome green, white, and gray mottled bark. Its leaves are larger and have very attractive silvery white underside which flicker like lights when turned in the wind. Like the famous European London planetree, this tree also develops into a stately tree.
As with other sycamores Mexican sycamore has four-season interest because of its attractive bark and fruit
(syncarp)
. This stately tree can, like other sycamores, also be grown in a large container.
We offer seeds for the close related native
Platanus occidentalis,
American sycamore (www.ebay.com/itm/144025574618) and another native similarly large stately tree—
Liriodendron tulipifera
,
tulip tree (www.ebay.com/itm/144025594779).
Note
: If you order more than one lot of one species of seeds, for example you place two orders of 100 seeds, or whatever variation is offered, we assume you want 200 seeds and your order will be sent in one seed packet.
