Fantastic piece of Marra Mamba Tiger Eye
in the rough (not polished),
cut in this slab with golden-yellow and red mixed patterns.  The colors are great on this piece with a variety of patterning from straight lines to unique patterns.  Great mix of the golden yellow and red-maroon mixtures with a gradient pink in places adding a nice picture across this piece.  There is a strong Hematite line running along one edge and partially across the other end of this slab.  This slice has a lot of nice cabochons potentials or just leave as a slice for display.  This slab has no noticeable vugs or fractures though there is a piece of fiber that calved off naturally on one side near the edge that will go away as you polish the stone for cabochons (see the pictures).  This is a softer, fibrous stone so please take care while working it as it is more fragile than most hard stone. Our slabs are generally shown wet to show the eventual polished potential, though this slab was photographed indoors and has some dry and some pictures are shown wet.  The stone has been left natural with no treatments or fillers.  Slabs are sold 'as is' as shown in the photos and are not substituted.  The item you are looking at in the photos is the piece you will be buying.  A great slice of a rare piece for your collection with lots of great cabochon potentials.
This slab weighs 87.5 grams (437.5 carats) and measures 10 cm x 5 cm x 6 mm.  Measurements are approximate and are measured from the longest or widest points; the thickness is measured in the middle.    The Mohs scale of hardness for Tiger Eye is 7.0.
Marra Mamba Tiger Eye has chatoyant layers that dance shafts of color across the stone.  It is a macro crystalline Quartz displaying chatoyancy in the layers of gold and brown to black.  It's fibrous asbestos layers of Crocidolite were replaced over time with Chalcedony keeping the original shape of the fibers thus aiding in the chatoyant look.  This stone comes from Australia out of a vintage supply that is no longer available today unless from old collections.

Please inspect your stones prior to your use to avoid unexpected breaks later.  It breaks my heart to see my husband test a slab by putting pressure to a suspected weak spot and sometimes snaps a slab (if it has a weak spot), but, if you don't test it, half way through your cabochon, it could naturally split on you.  Better to remove all doubt before starting.
We don't alter the colors in our photographs, though digital photo colors vary between cameras and depending on the lighting where the photos are taken so please view all photos before purchasing. Naturally lighted photos will be provided whenever possible, but some photos are taken indoors.  Photos of this piece were taken indoors, mainly wet but a few were taken drying to display the potential of this piece.  My apologies for any glare on any of the photos and the flash has a tendency to wash the colors, therefore, some photos may be with or without flash trying to capture the most lifelike appearance.
