    Description

Modern express analysis for the determination of mercury vapor in indoor air, adapted for home use.
The test is designed to monitor indoor air for the presence of dangerous concentrations of mercury vapor and evaluate the degree of its danger.
The test is adapted for easy use at home.
How the YOCHEM Mercury Air Monitoring Test Works
The test is based on the uptake of mercury from the air by the reaction zone, which causes the zone to change color. The test is monitoring – the more mercury vapor is present in the room, the faster the test will change color. If the test strip does not change color over time, there are no dangerous concentrations of mercury vapor in the air.
The test contains two adhesive strips. They can both be used to monitor the air in two different rooms, or use the second strip as a control strip – unpack it if the first strip changes color after a while. If the second strip also quickly changes color, mercury vapor is found in the air.
    Product packaging:
instructions with a color scale, five test strips of adhesive material.
The test is designed to determine mercury in residential premises, offices, new buildings, basements, storerooms, etc.

Where does the mercury in the air come from?
A broken thermometer is the most common cause of mercury air pollution. In this case, the excess of the MPC of mercury (0.0003 mg/m3) in the air reaches a level of 100–200 times (according to Ecospace, 2014). Building materials are another potentially dangerous source of mercury. Usually, these are cheap building materials that do not have a quality certificate and are made from low-quality raw materials (with various impurities, including mercury). Over time, they release volatile pollutants into the air. Acetic acid manufactory is also among the sources that pollute the environment with mercury. Factories dump production waste into rivers, which leads to mercury contamination of fish.
Why is mercury dangerous to human health?
Mercury is a liquid silvery-white metal, that does not burn and easily evaporates. Mercury is very toxic. It is colorless and odorless, and at first, has no noticeable effect on the human body. Being a heavy metal, mercury is practically not excreted from the body. Accumulating in the body, this heavy metal slowly and steadily slows down the development and functioning of the human central nervous system, leads to memory impairment, and negatively affects the development of the brain, motor skills and hand-eye coordination.
