An extraordinary pair of antique Japanese Victorian 14K gold shakudo horses cufflinks. This remarkable pair of antique Japanese shakudo cufflinks have been been created with two copper and gold highlighted menuki, one unusually depicting an incredible scene of a horse rolling around on its back with it's legs realistically pointing in all directions and the second showing the horse having righted itself on its knees getting ready to climb back on its feet, both menuki are highly detailed with tight etching work depicting individual hairs on the horses manes and tails. The reverses has been framed with rich and heavy solid 14K yellow gold plaques following the horse's outlines with attached solid 14K gold posts and toggles. The cufflinks are stamped '14K' and test for 14K gold. The cufflinks measure approximately 1 3/8 inch x 5/8 inch. The posts are about 9/16 inch long. The cufflinks have a total weight of approximately 17.4g. The cufflinks are in general very good condition with light wear. The upright horse has a small hole in the fold of its neck.
