Clitoria Ternatea - GORGEOUS RICH ROYAL Blue Butterfly Pea vine - 20 freshly picked NON GMO HOME GARDEN GROWN Seeds. These are not bought from a foreign country or another seller. I grew & harvested!
    Botanical name: clitoria ternatea
Common name: butterfly pea vibe, blue fairy vine, blue queen, blue mint, ismenia
    Family: fabaceae
Origin: tropical equatorial asia, thailand and malaysia
Height: can grow to 10 feet in ideal conditions
Brightness: full sun in cold winter weather climates. Here in south Florida we grow in partial shade or am sun only. It can’t take the full on hot sun in FLORIDA summers
A glorious small vine, fast growing and flowering with very showy (show-stopping) vivid solitary ROYAL BLUE flowers that are tear shaped with yellow or white center.while pretty from afar, they take your breath away close up!
All parts of the plant are edible, and their flowers are widely used as a food coloring and in the preparation of teas. Will turn lemonade a blue-purple! And the health benefits are numerous! Makes a gorgeous blue tea
In Southeast Asia, the flower is used to color rice and opasta. In Burmese and Thai cuisine, flowers are also dipped in batter and fried.
The flowers are rich in phytochemicals such as flavonoids and anthocyanins with antioxidant, hepatoprotective and anti-diabetic activities. Hair growth, stress relief, anti cancer properties, the formidable list is plentiful!
Its name is allusive to the shape of the flower and the roots, when used in the form of tea, are emenagogues, that is, they cause menstruation. Perhaps this is one reason why this vine is so connected to the feminine world, sensuality and fertility. In regions close to the cane gulf it is used for green manure and, on the banks of rivers, where they grow spontaneously, their fruits fall into the water helping the dispersion of seeds; they are sticky and stick to certain animals that also guarantee the germination of new plants.
It is very easy to grow, and blooms throughout the year in temperate winter zones.
Currently, flowers are added in the preparation of drinks to color drinks and in the preparation of gourmet foods worldwide.
Blooms first year from seed mid summer to frost in cold winter areas. Host plant for the painted lady butterfly and the long tailed skipper.
