OVERVIEW:
Here’s a scarce & stunning c1890 sterling buckle by Gorham.
The concave center depicts Triton and a nymph.
The figures are very well detailed (ahem), and I love the background detail of a dolphin poking its head above the surface of the water.
The design has an applied nautical rope style border.
The back has buckle fittings, and amazingly, the original connecting piece is still present.

Gorham trademark, 1578, PAT. APPL. FOR (acid-tested for sterling, plus Gorham only used the lion trademark on solid sterling pieces)
