Description
ALPHA TAU GAMMA Fraternity UMass Amherst Vintage Large Framed Leather CrestThis is a nice vintage/antique framed leather ALPHA TAU GAMMA crest.
It is old (probably pre 1950’s) and from an estate sale. This is an amazing piece and has nice detail to it.
Set on a burgundy/wine velvet background the crest is a cream colored leather with the ALPHA TAU GAMMA crest/coat of arms. The crest is in green, metallic gold, goldenrod and brown.
It is well crafted and stitched so someone took great care, time and skill to make this. It appears professionally done and nicely mounted and framed.
It is sealed in a very heavy frame and is ready to hang as it has the hanging wires attached (due to age and weight just as a precaution I would check it before hanging but the wire and attachments appear pretty sturdy).
I always leave cleaning to new owner. Is has some very minor discoloring in a few small spots and under glass has very minor spots of dust. The glass is however clear without cracks or yellowing/clouding.
Frame has no cracks or breaks. May have some minor surface wear from preowned display, age and storage. The backing paper is torn but can easily be replaced if you are crafty and does not affect the piece or it’s ability to be displayed/hung.
Measures approximately (frame):
28” across, 31 1/2” high and 1 1/2” deep
From a smoke free home.
This is some info on the fraternity from the UMASS website:

Founded in 1919 by Robert Hall, Class of 1920, ATG has maintained a long-standing tradition of service to the University and local communities. ATG stresses the importance of good academic standards, community service, and social standards for all students. Incredibly rare and beautiful item!
