Agua Nueva Agate comes from the Agua Nueva Ranch in Sonora Mexico.  For many years this beautiful agate was called "New Laguna Agate" or simply "Laguna Agate".
Some forward thinking collectors realized the Laguna Agate deposits are 20 miles from this deposit and that this deposit is on the Agua Nueva Ranch.  Thus, it should have it's own moniker related to it's locale.  So, it's only been in the last 20 years or so that it's been called Agua Nueva.  It's also still referred to New Laguna, so it can be a bit confusing.
Agua Nueva comes as seam agate or nodule, this particular beauty came from a nodule.  One of the exciting things about working with this material, is that every cut from the same piece reveals something entirely different.  Had I cut this even a 16th of an inch in either direction the piece would look entirely different.
