I gathered these acorns over a course of one week (I have a giant bag of them now). They are from a tree that is growing on my 10 acres. That tree and another further down the fence row are growing huge acorns compared to every other oak tree and I thought that others would like an opportunity to provide great food for future generations of wildlife and people (in case of a zombie apocalypse).I am currently leaching some acorns to remove the tannins to try making flour. These large acorns are the best for harvesting as they are a real time saver. .My dogs and horses love to eat them, so I am sure other animals such as squirrels will like them as well for a treat. Our pot bellied pig always ate them in the fall.
NOTE: There now are not as many acorns in the box as there were when I took the photo. I had 67 in there originally, but the cost of shipping 1 pound, 3 ounces was too much for me to consider, so I took enough out to keep it in the first class bracket.
