    Description

    We are offering 2 items that
    came from an old scrapbook containing Wesleyan University Skull & Serpent, Zeta Phi and other fraternity related items.  Wesleyan has a history of secret societies, one of which is the Skull & Serpent.  The Skull & Serpent society allegedly pulls its members from several fraternities on campus.
    1.)
    Zeta Phi Fraternity Dinner Menu in French & a Zeta Phi Card.
    Menu measures 3 3/4" x 5 1/2".  Written in Latin is "Prid. Non. Jun., MDCCCLXXX" (June 5, 1880).  Menu is held together with a tasseled cord.  There is a Zeta Phi card inserted inside the menu.
    CONDITION: Excellent

    Skull & Serpent Invitation, apparently to a party, and accompanying party favor.
    The invitation (3 1/2" x 4 1/2") reads, "5626. Be at 30 N. C. at 8 o'clock, Saturday Evening, May 7, 1881".  The invitation comes with its envelope, and what appears to be a party favor (6 1/4" wide), in the shape of a boat with an oar, pasted to the envelope.
    CONDITION: Invitation and party favor are in Excellent Condition.
    Wesleyan University is a private university in Middletown, Connecticut.  It was founded in 1831 as a men's college under the auspices of the Methodist Episcopal Church and supported by prominent residents of Middletown.  It was named after John Wesley, the founder of Methodism.  It is now a secular institution.
